He Made the Stars Also
“He made the stars also” (Genesis 1:16).
What an awesome thought to ponder as you consider the billions of stars that exist. These five words reflect the sovereign creative ability of God (Hebrew, “Elohim”, making reference to His majestic power). The phrase, “He made the stars also,” is like an after-thought, “Oh, by the way, God (Elohim) created the stars also.” Wow!
From time to time, we need to be reminded that God is sovereign and has a plan for the universe and specifically your life. The prophet Isaiah reminds us, “Thus saith God the Lord, He that created the heavens, and stretched them out; He that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; He that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein: I , the Lord have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee…” (Isaiah 42:5,6).
We can see in these verses that God has great concern and truly cares for His people. If God can create “the stars also” in all their glory and magnificence, can He not care for your concerns and needs? Listen to the words of David as he asks, “What is man, that Thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that Thou visitest him? For Thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honor” (Psalm 8:4,5).
The term, “mindful” suggests that God is continually thinking about man. We are constantly on His mind. He has crowned those who trust in Him with glory and honor. One day believers in Jesus will be His trophies of Grace eternally displayed before all creation (Ephesians 2:7). Also, David states, with extreme pathos, “I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: Thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God” (Psalm 40:17).
The word “thinketh” (thinks) has the idea ‘to regard and value.’ Just as the parent or grandparent that carries photos of their children or grandchildren ready to show them at any moment. Constantly in the back of their mind, they are cherishing and regarding their “kids” or “grandkids.” So it is with God and his children…He thinks upon us. Be not afraid dear one, “for in Him we live and move and have our being.” The Lord Jesus will never leave us nor forsake us. We are “complete in Him’ who is “all and in all” (Acts 17:28; Hebrews 13:5; Colossians 2:10; 3:11).
Therefore, rest in the confidence that He who “made the stars also” can complete that which He has started in you and will hold your hand; and keep you along the journey. Amen and Amen!
Shalom and Blessings,
