A Timely Letter!

A World Numb

The constant stream of death, destruction, and vitriol in the news has produced a kind of emotional fatigue. Many evangelicals are simply tired. War-weary. Overwhelmed. And when people grow numb, they withdraw. But withdrawal has consequences: it erodes the calling to be salt and light in a world that desperately needs moral clarity.

Salt that stays in the shaker does nothing. Light hidden under a basket helps no one.

A Daily Reality

Israelis live with a level of existential vulnerability that most Westerners cannot fathom. Every day carries the possibility of an attack. Every siren, every news alert, every child walking to school is shadowed by uncertainty. Every Holocaust survivor relives sounds of war.

Israelis have learned — painfully — that international support is fickle. Allies waffle. Churches hesitate. “Friends” disappear when cultural pressure rises. The Jewish people have lived through centuries of abandonment, and they recognize the pattern when it reappears.

Today’s global climate echoes Nazi Germany in the 1930s, not because history repeats mechanically, but because human nature repeats morally. Hatred of Jews is not new; it is the oldest hatred in human history.

A Generation Ignorant

Profound ignorance of world history has created a generation easily manipulated by slogans, influencers, and ideological trends. When people do not know the story of the Jewish people — their suffering, their resilience, their covenantal significance — they become susceptible to the oldest lie: “The Jew is the problem.”

This lie has resurfaced globally, amplified by social media, political opportunism, and theological confusion.

A Theological Drifting

The rise of Replacement Theology in seminaries is not merely an academic shift — it is a pastoral crisis. When future pastors are taught that God’s promises to Israel have been revoked, transferred, or nullified, they inevitably lead congregations away from the biblical significance of Israel.

I have personally encountered churches where new leadership has embraced this view, leading congregations away from the biblical significance of Israel and the Jewish people. Such teaching not only distorts Scripture but also erodes the Church’s ability to stand with clarity and conviction in a time of rising hostility.

A Clear and Present Danger

The hostility I’ve personally experienced — threats, expletives, and even references to Nazi-era humiliation — is part of a broader pattern. Social platforms have become a megaphone for ancient hatred dressed in modern clothing.

A recent disturbing reference to shaving my beard, that someone commented on social media, is chilling precisely because it is historically loaded. The Nazis did it to humiliate religious Jews. The Ammonites did it in 2 Samuel 10 to shame David’s envoys. Hatred repeats itself because the human heart, untethered from biblical truth, repeats itself.

A need to remember

• Israel is a biblical anchor. Not a political accessory.
• The Jewish people are central to God’s covenant story. Not a theological footnote.
• Hatred of Jews is a spiritual battle that spans millennia. Not a cultural trend.
• Emotional disengagement is dangerous.Not neutral.
• The need is to be courageous. Not to withdraw.

A Hope revealed

Amid these sobering realities, we are not without hope. The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob remains faithful. His covenant stands. His purposes endure. God has called His people — the Church — to stand with truth, humility, and courage.

I urge you, do not grow numb. Do not withdraw. Do not allow the noise of the age to drown out the call of Scripture. We are invited to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, to bless the descendants of Abraham, and to stand against hatred in all its forms. Your witness matters. Your compassion matters. Your faithfulness matters. Your generosity matters.

Stand with us. Together, we feed children and Holocaust survivors, sharing the gospel in both word and deed.
