Conception:

While in the pastorate I highlighted expositional teaching, emphasizing the Jewish roots of scripture. My doctoral dissertation addressed the “Hebraic Aspects of Christian Spirituality.”  Being courted by a couple of international Jewish mission organizations in the 1980’s I accepted a position with the organization founded by the famed Hyman J. Appelman (1902 – 1983), the American Association for Jewish Evangelism (AAJE), later called International Ministries to Israel (IMI).

Soon I became the executive director of IMI.  After several years, I found myself back in the pastorate. However, my heart ached, along with Louise, missing working for, and on behalf of Israel.

Seeking wisdom from several evangelical scholars as I shared with them a vision for a new innovative Jewish outreach, implementing the ministry philosophy of Appelman, and augmenting that model with needed humanitarian relief for Israel.  Their encouragement was remarkable. Birth:

God opened the windows of heaven confirming His call and direction in many ways. With the backdrop of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, rockets, gunfire, suicide bombers, territory closures, and political intrigue, Israel Today Ministries was birthed.

August 2002 Israel Today Ministries was officially launched.  “Team One,” our California volunteers, along with a new Executive Board, helped dawn the first baby steps of ITM.

Prayers and donations began to flow as hundreds, eventually, thousands of Jewish and Arab souls were being reached with a simple meal and the gospel.

Israel Today Ministries stands upon a solid biblical foundation in the tradition of some of the most respected conservative seminaries and scholars in the world. ITM is respected in North America, Europe, and Israel.  Religious, civil, Jewish, Christian, and Messianic leaders in Israel know we are there reaching both Jew and Arab.  God is blessing in profound ways as ITM works side-by-side with these leaders.

Interviews and articles have been written about our work from a Christian magazine, local newspapers, including The Jerusalem Post. From speaking in churches, bible conferences, seminaries, and universities, to the airing of our DVD “In the Land” airing on several television stations, and most important of all, that of blessing children, Holocaust survivors, and families with a simple meal and the gospel. The eternal significance and effectiveness of ITM is beyond measure.

Friends like you, at the end of the day, make all this happen. Your prayers and financial generosity are key to our mission. You are standing tall with Israel Today Ministries. Together, we are accomplishing so much, fulfilling, in part the Abrahamic Covenant – “I will bless them, who bless thee” (Genesis 12:3).

Moving forward:

I am humbled, silenced, and in awe of what God is doing through Israel Today Ministries.  Tens of thousands of meals have been provided for those who need it most in Israel. Thousands in Israel have been touched by ITM’s witness of Messiah Jesus.  And even more thousands have been inspired by our teaching letters, podcasts, radio broadcasts, and in-person lectures. And I say, “To God, be all the glory!”

It is said, “The future is as bright as the promises of God!” And I shout a hearty “Amen!” We are growing with new opportunities before us.  Feeding more children, survivors, and families.  Teaching more, writing more, and growing future staff as we prepare for the next 20 years.

Your partnership is truly remarkable.  Your prayers and generosity enables us to proceed into the future with great faith, joy, and anticipation of Messiah’s blessing.

God, in His sovereignty has chosen you to be part of our ITM family.  I am moved deeply by your outstanding faithfulness to His calling upon your life. Thank you!

Together we looked at the blessings of the past, now, together, let us look toward the future, with great determination to follow our Master, and to bless Israel to the best of our ability in the power of the Ruach HaKodesh – the Holy Spirit!
