What God Loves!
Love what God loves!
God wants you and I to love what He loves. Israel is the “apple of His eye” (Zechariah 2:8). God says to Israel, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness” (Jer. 31:3).
God is eternal, and His love is eternal. To grasp the love of God is to love that which He loves. One cannot claim to have God’s love and at the same time hate Israel. There is no place for anti-Semitism in the heart of any Christian.
God spoke to Moses and said, “When you take the census of the Children of Israel…” (Heb. Ki tisa et rosh benei Yisrael) – Exod. 30:12. Literally it reads, “When you lift up the heads of the children of Israel.” “Lift up the heads means, to count the Jew (or believer) is to “make sure he knows he counts.”
You and I matter. The creation account reminds us of this significance.
The LORD God (Heb. Adonai Elohim), or the Merciful Architect/Designer formed man from the dust from the ground, “And breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; And Man Became a Living Soul” [Heb. nephesh] (Genesis 2:7).
The Breath of Life (Heb. nishmat chaim) – deals with the immaterial part of man. This is the “breath of God.”
God’s breath brings animation, causing man to become a “living soul” and brings spiritual understanding. “But it is a spirit that is in mankind, And the breath of the Almighty gives them understanding” (Job 32:8).
Therefore, as a result being created by God who breathed into man the “breath of life,” you and I have the capacity for understanding things spiritual, and to love what God loves. And, this spiritual awareness is awakened when we put our faith in Messiah Jesus (1 Cor. 2: 10 – 16; Eph. 2:4, 5; Col. 2:13 – 15; 1 Pet. 3:18). – see my book, First Words: Genesis 1 – 2:7, Exploring Scripture through Ancient Eyes.
Knowing these things, let us love what God loves!
